Our PUSH Prenatal Program© is Revolutionizing Prenatal and Childbirth Education

PUSH Prenatal Program pregnant woman

Having worked in maternal child health care for my entire career, I’ve seen first-hand the knowledge and education gaps that exist for first-time parents when it comes to labour, birth and the transition into postpartum, including caring for their newborn.

Generally, appointments with healthcare providers are scheduled back-to-back with minimal opportunity to ask questions or to fully grasp certain concepts. Or you might find yourself with questions or concerns that arise between the long gaps in appointments without knowing where to direct them—other than Google!

Let’s face it: there are a lot of prenatal courses out there, but how do you know as a first-time parent which one will best suit your needs? Despite all the options to choose from, there’s often a gap in prenatal education. These courses are designed to suit the needs of ALL first-time parents, just grazing the surface of many standard topics. At PUSH, we recognize that, in this day and age, there are diverse, busy families with individualized needs, worries and complications. There are many areas of healthcare that can take a one-size-fits-all approach, but childbirth should not be one of them.

This is where the PUSH Prenatal Program comes in!

Designed to revolutionize what prenatal education looks like and the subjects it covers, we focus not only on what you should know but also your feelings as an expectant or new parent. With content created by actively practicing frontline healthcare providers who explain exactly what you can expect, we want to help you become empowered and prepared for what lies ahead!

Our program gives families like yours flexibility and control over how to prepare for your baby and this new chapter of your life. You can watch (and re-watch) the educational videos on your own time. We also offer two unique concepts:

  1. The opportunity to check in with a dedicated PUSH Prenatal Nurse six times throughout your journey to discuss your pregnancy progress, ask questions, practice skills with your partner and feel assured that there’s always someone to turn to as a first point of contact.

  2. Prenatal content and one-on-one sessions don’t stop once your newborn has arrived! We’re here to support you through arguably the hardest part of your new journey—throughout the postpartum period and into your first year as a new parent.

Phases of the PUSH Prenatal Program

The PUSH Prenatal program is broken up into 6 phases:Early Pregnancy, Mid Pregnancy, Late Pregnancy, Labour & Birth, Postpartum, and Infant Care. Mamas and their partners will learn about a plethora of topics and then meet with one of our prenatal nurses during each of these timeframes. Each one-on-one session is guided by you, the expectant parent, and your individualized needs.

The Phased Videos cover everything from trimester-specific physical and emotional symptoms to baby’s growth and developmental progress to all of the testing that happens throughout pregnancy. We don’t just outline what it is, but guide you on how to interpret your results and navigate the perinatal care landscape overall—weighing your choice of providers, birthplaces, and approaches to your labour and birth.

What does the PUSH Prenatal Program cover?

This program dives deep into basic topics, like pain management, labour positions, safety considerations and what to expect in labour, as well as nitty gritty that isn’t talked about as often: sex, exercise, weight gain, and even what it feels like down below as your near your due date and after giving birth.

We also want to prepare you for the many decisions you will need to make, such as cord blood banking versus delayed cord clamping and various birth preferences, as well as the many what ifs (assisted vaginal deliveries, cesarean section births, possible complications, what to expect with labour induction, you name it.

Some topics we cover for after your little one has arrived include baby bathing, check-ups and immunizations, growth and development, car seats, safe sleep, diapers, and what to do if your child becomes sick or injured—including CPR support and lifesaving procedures for choking.

We’ve thought of it all—and we can’t wait to share it all with you!
